Assisted hatching

What is it?

Normally, the blastocyst performs zona hatching, getting rid of the surrounding zona pellucida, to be able to implant in the uterus. However, sometimes this zona pellucida is toughened, disabling the embryo to hatch. In these cases, AZH is needed.

When it is used?

It is recommended in the following cases: in patients over the age of 38, in cases of high FSH, after various attempts of IVF without success, for embryos with a non optimum morphology, in embryos whose zona pellucida is swollen, and in some cases of transferred frozen embryos.
